Why Is It Important?

It is extremely important for individuals who:

Find it hard to use ordinary digital devices like smartphones or tablets.

Needs an easy, focused tool for free study or leisure reading.

It increases literacy, independence, and equity of access to information, especially for students who learn best through audio-based learning.

Advantages:

1. Easy to Use

Visually impaired people or people with limited dexterity can easily interact with the device using large buttons which are high-contrast and tactile.

  2. Portable and Durable

This item is designed for frequent use since it is lightweight, portable, and does not require a constant internet connection.

  3. Clear Audio Output

Narration quality is clear because of the quality built-in speaker and headphone jack which makes the audio output clear for the listener.

4. Adjustable Playback Options

The listener’s preferences can be catered to by adjusting volume, speed, and tone for the listener.

  Disadvantages:

1. Special Formats only

The available DAISY format books are accessible. MP3 files or commercial audiobooks available through services like Audible do not work.

  2. Not Multifunctional

There is no support for apps, web browsing, or multitasking unlike tablets or phones.

  3. Less Appealing to Younger Users

Younger users or those who prefer interactive digital tools may find the device outdated.

  4. Dependance on Physical Media

Certain books can only be downloaded on cartridges to play through the device.
